When I walk in the woods I am always attracted to old trees with exposed roots. I'm not quite sure why. I get the sense that the roots, exposed or otherwise, are reaching out to meet another.
Pikes Peak rises to fourteen thousand feet. I made this image from a location in the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, Colorado. When you live in Colorado Springs, the peak is always there.
The ice covering the Straits of Mackinac sometimes takes on a blue tint. I made this image on an extremely cold day. The Mackinac Bridge is in the distance.
What happens when you take an extremely long exposure of quickly flowing water? You get a very interesting result. I call this "Waterfall Abstract" because it looks nothing like the actual falls. I love the way the colors flow.
I often get off the busy roads and take the unpaved paths into the woods. This is a view of Sunset Trail in Kalkaska County in Michigan. It was a lovley fall day.
The mighty Mackinac Bridge at night is something to see. I love the illuminated bridge with the wonderful reflections in the water. I took this image at the beginning of winter on an extremely cold night.
A walk along the shore of Lake Michigan led me to make this image. I love to see the waves wash over the multi-colored, smooth stones. As the next wave came in, I captured this moment in time.
Textures always catch my eye. When I saw the bow of this boat with the cracking paint, the rope, and the metal ring, I knew I had to make this image. I love the variety of textures!
Springtime in the fruit tree orchards is a beautiful time. I captured this image on a day when the dandelions were in full bloom but the trees had yet to blossom.
The people who planted these trees so nicely in a row may not have lived to see them reach maturity. They left their mark on the earth for others to enjoy.
Railroad tracks have always fascinated me. I especially like it when a track can be switched in different directions. It is a metaphor for life. Which direction do we choose?
A major benefit of living near Lake Michigan is the opportunity to observe some amazing sunsets. I made this image on one of those beautiful evenings when the air was warm and the breeze from the lake was gentle.
